The Challenge

To provide a practical, and visually pleasing paved driveway. The paving must complement the house design and:

Be complimentary to the brick façade of the house.

Economically competitive with alternative finishes.

Nestle in to existing lawns

The Solution

Roadstone supplied 200m² of 60mm Harvest Blend Thomond Paving and 10m² of 60mm Charcoal Blend Thomond Paving to this family dwelling. The paving provided a durable paving product and can accommodate light traffic and turning areas and requires minimum maintenance or protecting from the elements.

Roadstone also supplied 20 tonnes of laying grit for the paving and 100 Kgs of sand, in 20Kg bags, to joint the paving. All the materials were supplied locally from Roadstone’s paving plant in Gooig

The paving was laid on 6mm grit and jointed with a kiln dried sand which was sympathetic to the paving colour. The paving contractor then sealed the paving, using a liquid sealer, in order to set the jointing sand and provide extra protection from the environment.

The Result

The Thomond Harvest Blend was laid as the body of the paved surface with the Thomond Charcoal Blend paving being used as an inset border.

The blended colour provides similar hues to the facing brick used on the façade of the house.

By not using an edge kerb restraint and haunching in the actual paving this allows the driveway to nestle in to the existing lawns proving a seamless transition from driveway to lawn.

Takeaways

Always ensure that the client has viewed and visited a similar project and is happy with the product to be supplied. This is more important when dealing with vibrant paving colours like Harvest Blend.

Sealing the paved area provides colour enhancement and longevity of tones.
