To provide a robust Roofing System to compliment the forest surround of the Center Parcs resort. The project required the construction of 470 chalets and 30 apartments within a program schedule of 18 months. The product would have to;
Be resilient and suitable for Irish conditions.
Accommodate the vision specified by the architect.
Be sympathetic to the timber frame lodge construction and suitable for executive lodge construction.
Be available to suit the ambitious project timeline.
Roadstone provided 700,000 Roadstone Donard Roof Tiles (Black) for the roofing of the lodges and executive lodges at Center Parcs. The Donard Roof Tile is a durable long lasting roofing product, has a proven track record in roofing, is suited to Irish conditions and comes with a full range of dry accessories including dry ridge, dry verge and dry hip systems.
Roadstone provided full technical support for the Donard Roofing System including initial weekly visits by Roadstone’s National Technical Manager for Roofing.
This ensured that:
A full mock-up of a Donard Tiled Roof, including all dry accessories, was placed on site to illustrate the roofing system.
Scheduling of Roof Tile deliveries was agreed with the client, at the start of the project, to minimise stocking on site and to ensure ‘just in time delivery’ could be achieved.
Value engineering of the project was carried out to ensure that a full dry roofing system could be used thereby removing the need for mortar on the roof and minimising future maintenance requirements.
The Donard Roof Tile fulfilled all of the requirements set out at the beginning of the product. It is a visually appealing product which now sits very well in the natural surroundings.
The roof tiles compliment Roadstone’s Keltstone walling which was also used on the lodges and apartments.
Delivered to suit the clients tight deadlines, Donard Roof Tiles proved to be the right product for the right job.
Ensure that a sample roof is built on site before construction begins. This means that the roofing can be seen as it will be constructed.
Roadstone Technical staff should always be engaged with before the beginning of large projects. This gives the client the full benefit of the project experience of Roadstone staff.
